Author Biography

Armando Menéndez Viso, Universidad de Oviedo

PhD in Philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid and MEC/Fulbright postdoctoral researcher at the University of Exeter. He is currently a professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Oviedo. He has been a visiting professor at Delft University of Technology, the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), the UASD (Dominican Republic), and the University of Guadalajara (Mexico). He is a member of the CTS study group and the Grand History group at the University of Oviedo. His areas of interest are the philosophy of social sciences, science and technology policy, Spanish philosophy, and big history. He has published articles and works such as “In Praise of Superfluity (excerpted from Ortega's Meditation on Technology at 75)” in Revista Internacional de Tecnología; Conocimiento y Sociedad, 2 (1) (2013); Las ciencias y el origen de los valores (The Sciences and the Origin of Values) (2013); and “Valores, ¿ser o tener?” (Values: To Be or To Have?) in Argumentos de razón técnica (Arguments of Technical Reason), 5, (2002).
