Abstract

This article seeks to contextualize the place of art in general biology –in the sense of the logos of the bios–, which Ortega proposed in El tema de nuestro tiempo, under the decisive influence of Jakob von Uexküll. Within this general theory of life, art occupies an important place as the most spontaneous and sporting aspect of culture that manifests the first symptoms of historical crises.

Taro Toyohira

Graduate in Philosophy from Nihon University. Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Philosophy from the University of Salamanca. Doctorate from the same university with a thesis entitled The Biology of José Ortega y Gasset. Art and Philosophy in Times of Historical Crisis.
