Abstract

José Ortega y Gasset's thinking brings us into contact with what we defend as experiential hermeneutics based on a biographical anthropology developed from historical writings. The process of understanding human life involves recognizing each person's life history. Therefore, the reflective choice we make through the thinking of the aforementioned philosopher is justified when we identify his thinking as belonging to a methodological conception that has as its explanatory basis a narrative reason capable of understanding biographical

Author Biography

Edson Ferreira Martins, Universidade Federal do Maranhão

PhD in Philosophy from the Federal University of Ceará with a thesis on the biographical dimension of human life in rational-vitalist philosophy (2019). He is an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Maranhão/Imperatriz. He coordinates the Study and Research Group on Epistemology and Education and is part of the editorial board of the journal Humanidades & Educação. He conducts research on the thought of Ortega y Gasset, with an emphasis on anthropology and hermeneutics. His publications include a chapter on human life and biography in Ortega's thought, in La presencia de Ortega y Gasset en Portugal y Brasil (The Presence of Ortega y Gasset in Portugal and Brazil) (2018), and an article on the contribution of Ortega's thought on the theme of life in contemporary philosophy (2019).
