Author Biographies

Jorge Brioso, Carleton College (Estados Unidos)

Professor in the Department of Hispanic Studies at Carleton College. His research focuses on political philosophy, Latin American and Spanish literature, and contemporary Spanish thought. His most recent publications include: “Furor Against the Limit: The Controversy Between a Public Intellectual and a Poet in Republican Cuba” (2025); Confronted Lucidity. Ortega’s Political Philosophy in Counterpoint (2024), coauthored with Jesús M. Díaz; and “Literary Autonomy: An Idol Without Which There Would Be No Modern Literature” (2022).

José Lasaga Medina, Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia

Professor of Philosophy at the National University of Distance Education. His research focuses on Spanish philosophy, with numerous works on Ortega y Gasset and the Madrid School, as well as contemporary philosophy. He directs the Escuela de Madrid series, launched by Ediciones Cinca and the José Ortega y Gasset International Chair (UNED-Fundación Sicomoro). Among his most recent works are the reissues of ¿Qué es conocimiento? By José Ortega y Gasset; Éthos y lógos by Antonio Rodríguez Huéscar, both in 2025; “Ortega y Trías. Notes for a Metaphysical Ethics” (2025); “The Relevance of Ortega. 20th-Century Scenarios for the 21st Century” (2023); and Meditations for a Century: The Political Philosophy of Ortega y Gasset (2022).
