Abstract

Given the recent edition of correspondence between José Ortega y Gasset and his translator into German Helene Weyl, and in the other hand, the exchange of letters among Gregorio Marañón, Miguel de Unamuno and José Ortega y Gasset, the author meditates on the need and desirability of publishing the collected letters and analyzes these new editions and theirs possible interpretations.

Author Biography

Javier Zamora Bonilla, Centro de Estudios Orteguianos – Fundación Ortega-Marañón y Universidad Complutense de Madrid

As editor-in-chief of this journal and director of the Center for Ortega Studies, he is a member of the research and editorial team working on the new Complete Works of José Ortega y Gasset. A professor in the Department of the History of Thought and Social and Political Movements at the School of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid, he has published a biography titled Ortega y Gasset (2002) and more than a dozen works on the philosopher, in addition to several books, book chapters, and articles on the contemporary intellectual history of Spain and Europe. Among other topics, he has analyzed the work and political activities of Alfredo Brañas, Francesc Cambó, and Fernando de los Ríos.
