This third installment of the correspondence between José Ortega y Gasset and Ramiro de Maeztu covers from January 11 to October 15, 1911. It coincides with the period of Ortega’s stay in Marburgo, with his wife Rosa Spottorno, on his third visit to Germany, where his first son, Miguel Germán, will be born. This year we continue to witness the political and philosophical evolution of Ortega. He has already outlined clearly that the solution to the problem in Spain is the construction of a minority –moral and intellectual–, capable of carrying out the necessary reforms; and he finds himself looking for ways to qualify Kantian orthodoxy. Ramiro de Maeztu lives in London, with a brief three-day visit to his friend, probably at the end of March 1911. In the debate between the two friends we witness a different conception of journalism –the predominant activity of both in these years–, and the way of prosecuting the previous generation and treating its main representative, Don Miguel de Unamuno, engaged in an anti-European campaign.
