Abstract

When analyzing Carnets’s remark of November 27th 1954, we can notice that Albert Camus has read La rebelión de las masas. Actually on April 28th 1955, during a colloquium about “The Future of European civilization”, the French writer underlines as an essential point of his reflexion that “European civilization is first a pluralist civilization”. Then he adds: “this pluralism that has always been at the foundations of the European liberty notion appears to me as the most important contribution to our civilization”. This musing is a direct reference to Ortega. The following article tries to expose this convergence of thought between both authors that is rarely mentioned.
