Ratiovitalism and Way of Life. Ortega's notion of “belief” compared with Wittgenstein's concept of “certainty”

It is evident there are striking similarities between the concept of “belief” José Ortega y Gasset uses in his late work –above all, in Ideas and Beliefs− and the notion of “certainty” Ludwig Wittgenstein develops in his posthumous work On Certainty. In this paper, however, it will be shown that there are deep differences behind these superficial similarities, for the above mentioned concepts constitute similar answers to different problems.
