Abstract

The aim of this paper is double: on the one hand, to elucidate Ortega’s idea of University and the concept of culture that is at the basis of his Mission of the University; on the other, to expound the theoretical re-elaboration and application of this idea on the part of Manuel García Morente as regards the reform of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Madrid and (especially) on the part of Jaime Benítez as regards the reform of the University of Puerto Rico.
