Author Biographies

Javier Echeverría Ezponda, Universidad del País Vasco

Since February 2008, he has been an Iberbasque Research Professor, attached to the Department of Sociology 2 at the University of the Basque Country. He was Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the same university (1986-1995) and Research Professor at the Institute of Philosophy of the Spanish National Research Council (1995-2008). He has conducted research in the philosophy of science and technology and is currently engaged in innovation studies. For the last two years, he has collaborated with the Revista de Estudios Orteguianos as editor of Ortega y Gasset's “Working Notes on Estimation.” His own published books include Innovation and Values: A European Perspective (2014), Entre cavernas: de Platón al cerebro pasando por Internet (Between Caves: From Plato to the Brain via the Internet) (2013), Leibniz (ed., 2011), Ciencia del bien y el mal (The Science of Good and Evil) (2007), La Revolución Tecnocientífica (The Techno-Scientific Revolution) (2003), and Ciencia y Valores (Science and Values) (2002).

Lola Sánchez Almendros, Instituto de Estudios de la Ciencia y la Tecnología – Universidad de Salamanca

Graduate in Philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid and International Master's Degree in Philosophy, Science, and Values from the University of the Basque Country. She has been a JAE-Intro fellow at the CSIC, a collaborative fellow in the Department of Philosophy of Law, Morality, and Politics II (Ethics and Sociology) at the Complutense University of Madrid, and a practical training fellow in the Faculty of Psychology at the same university. Her research interests focus on legal and political issues, the development of social networks, and the possibilities for the techno-political development of new democratic practices in digital social environments. Her doctoral thesis focuses on privacy issues in social networks and their socio-political consequences. She has participated with a paper entitled “The commodification of privacy in the ICT era” in the Young Researchers Seminar organized by the CSIC Institute of Philosophy and in the International Congress “Posthumanism and Posthumanities. Encounter with Rosi Braidotti” at the Carlos III University of Madrid with a paper entitled “From the posthuman subject to the naturalized cyborg.” In 2015, she published the article “From the Information Society to the Knowledge Society” in the journal Utopía y Praxis.
