Abstract

Exemplariness in politics has become at the beginning of the 21st century a big challenge for the Spanish and European society. In a few years, the 100th anniversary of España invertebrada will be celebrated, an essay partly focused on this topic. This paper takes into account this book and some other writings about politics or ethics and tries to show the reader an introduction to a theory of exemplariness inspired on Ortega’s moral figures.

Author Biography

Juan Manuel Monfort Prades, Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera

Professor at the Cardenal Herrera – CEU University in Castellón, PhD in Philosophy from the UNED in 2011 with a thesis on the concept of culture in Ortega y Gasset, he has a degree in Sociology, Social and Cultural Anthropology, and Ecclesiastical Sciences. His main lines of research are: culture in Ortega y Gasset, Ortega's relationship with Simmel, Ortega's disciples Julián Marías and Antonio Rodríguez Huéscar, and the Madrid School. His publications include: Philosophy of Culture in Ortega. Conversations with Experts (2014) and Conversations on the Philosophy of Culture (2010).
