Comparing the statements of José Ortega y Gasset in Meditations of Quijote with the declarations of Martin Heidegger in the second part of his life (especially in The fundamental Concepts of Metaphysics. World, Finiteness, Loneliness, in the lecture What does thinking mean? and in The Origin of works of art) there appear certain similarities. But it is a surprise that these similarities apparently have their origin in the hymns of Hölderlin. The parallels between the philosophical statements of Ortega and Heidegger have been proved. But what has not yet been proved –it is the contents of this article– are the ideological parallels between these two philosophers and the poetical ideas of Hölderlin.
