Abstract

This article studies the presence of Theodor Lipps in José Ortega y Gasset's aesthetics, analyzing the influence of Lipps´'s aesthetic ideas especially on “Ensayo de estética a manera de prólogo”. At the same time, it contributes to reveal the important differences regarding their conception of aesthetics as science.

Author Biography

Taro Toyohira, Universidad de Salamanca

PhD student in philosophy at the University of Salamanca with a thesis on the aesthetics of José Ortega y Gasset. Master's degree in Advanced Studies in Philosophy from the same university. Graduate in Philosophy from Nihon University (Japan). His main lines of research focus on contemporary philosophy, Spanish thought, and the aesthetics of Ortega y Gasset. He has published “Libro-máquina y libro de wayfaring. Un análisis estructural del ensayo orteguiano” (2016) at the International Congress “Tradición y actualidad de la Filosofía” (Tradition and Current Events in Philosophy).
