Abstract

This paper reports the documents about José Ortega y Gasset of the Deutches Literatur Archiv in Marbach (Germany). The Marbach collection of manuscripts contains some unpublished letters between José Ortega y Gasset and philosophers as Karl Jaspers, Wilhelm Hausenstein and the editors of the Journal Merkur. The presented letters deal with Ortega´s philosophy and his relation to Germany.

Author Biography

María Martín Gómez, Universidad de Salamanca

With a bachelor's degree and PhD in Philosophy, she is Vice Dean and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Salamanca. Her research focuses on Spanish and Latin American philosophy, the thinking of the School of Salamanca, the Protestant Reformation, and hermeneutics. Her publications include: Understanding and Interpreting. The Reception of Hermeneutic Philosophy in Democratic Spain (1960-2010) (2015), Philosophy for Later (2014), “On the Tragic Sense of Life. Versions and Translations” (2013), “Virtue, Daughter of Heaven: On the Moral Thought of Fray Luis de León” (2012).
