Philosophical perspective on body in Ortega y Gasset Ortega y Gasset’s philosophy has its roots in human life, a radical reality that the individual must live with his body, which is “flesh”, a “hieroglyph, expression of a cosmic phenomenon”, that is a set of experiences and meaning created by individuals following its “circumstance”. In this regard, the body is “biology” and “biography” at the same time, opening to us in two perspectives opposed and entwined: anyone sees his own body from the outside and sense it from within, a “within” which contains an intimacy, flowing and revealing to the Other. It turns into an hermeneutic instrument of authentic knowledge of what is authentically human.
