Abstract

Ortega presents the vocation as an “inner voice” that invokes men to make a certain vital trajectory as the only way to move towards his own authenticity. A definition like this necessarily opens the question about whether his philosophy leads, as some argue, towards a situational ethic. The present work intends to address this issue. To do this, in first place, the various responses that have been given in this regard are reviewed, and, in second place, it reflects on Ortega's adherence to the philosophy of values as an element of his philosophy that would leave aside this possibility.
