Author Biography

Jean Christian Egoávil, Universidad del Pacífico, Perú

He holds a degree in philosophy from the UARM (Lima, Peru) and is a candidate for a master's degree in history from the PUCP (Lima, Peru). He currently works as a research assistant at the Research Center of the Universidad del Pacífico (Lima, Peru) and is a collaborator on the Indian Studies Project. His research focuses on philosophy and science developed in the Peruvian viceroyalty, especially during the 17th century. He has also researched the philosophical proposals of Peruvian thinker Francisco Miró-Quesada Cantuarias, with an emphasis on epistemology and logic. His latest publication is entitled “The conditions for the development of viceregal philosophy in Peru as the foundation of Peruvian thought. The case of Logica via Scoti (Lima, 1610) by Jerónimo de Valera (1568-1625),” in La escritura del territorio americano, New York: IDEA, 2019.
