Author Biography

Javier Gomá Lanzón, Fundación Juan March

Doctor of Philosophy and graduate in Classical Philology and Law, in 1993 he passed the competitive examination for the Council of State's legal corps, ranking first in his class. Since 2003, he has been director of the Juan March Foundation. Winner of the National Essay Prize, he is president of the Advisory Council of the José Ortega y Gasset-Gregorio Marañón Foundation and a patron of the Teatro Real and the Teatro de la Abadía. His main philosophical work is developed in a Tetralogy of Exemplarity (Imitation and Experience, Achilles in the Gynaeceum, Public Exemplarity, Necessary but Impossible, published between 2003 and 2013 and compiled twice in Taurus, 2014 and DeBolsillo, 2019), later presented as a single work in the monograph Universal concreto (2023). In addition, he has collected his essays in Ingenuidad aprendida (Learned Naivety, 2011), Filosofía mundana (Worldly Philosophy, 2016), La imagen de tu vida (The Image of Your Life, 2017), and Dignidad (Dignity, 2019). He is the author of a theatrical trilogy entitled Un hombre de 50 años (A 50-Year-Old Man, 2021).
