About the Journal

 

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Ortega Studies (Revista de Estudios Orteguianos), founded in 2000 and published by the Center for Ortega Studies at the José Ortega y Gasset–Gregorio Marañón Foundation of Madrid, Spain, is a biannual publication dedicated to the study of the work and life of the philosopher José Ortega y Gasset from a cultural and academic perspective.

Since its inception, it has become a meeting place for readers and researchers from around the world interested in the Spanish philosopher’s thought and his historical context.

 

Publication Frequency
 
The journal is published twice a year. The first issue covers the May–October period, and the second issue covers the November–April period. Each issue is published on May 1 and November 1 of each year.
 
 

Scientific Collections Digitization Project

In keeping with the spirit of openness and dissemination that characterizes the Ortega-Marañón Foundation, in accordance with the BOAI declaration and within the framework of grants from the Community of Madrid and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), the Center for Ortega Studies is currently carrying out a comprehensive digitization plan for the journal’s archives and an editorial migration process to the OJS platform, while also maintaining its print edition. Through this initiative, the Center demonstrates its commitment to the open dissemination of its content and to the promotion of Spanish scientific culture on an international level.

 

Copyright
 
It is a condition for the publication of unpublished original works in print and electronic formats that the author(s) assign the copyright to the Revista de Estudios Orteguianos. Two years after publication in the journal, authors may reproduce the works or portions thereof with prior authorization, always indicating the original place of publication.
 

Peer Review System and Languages

The selection of manuscripts is regulated by an evaluation system conducted by external reviewers who are experts in the field. The peer review process will be conducted on a double-blind basis. At the end of the year, a list of the names of the reviewers who served during that period will be published on the journal’s website.

The journal’s language of publication is Spanish; however, upon invitation, manuscripts written in English, French, Portuguese, Italian, or German may also be submitted for consideration. If accepted for publication, the authors will be responsible for providing a translation, which will be reviewed by the editors.
